Causes of Teeth Sensitivity
Teeth Sensitivity is caused by some human activities like gnashing and glitching, brushing using hard brushes, regular intake of unriped fruits.
Generally, teeth Sensitivity occurs when someone's second layer of the teeth (The Dentine) is exposed.
The causes are grouped into three basically;
Attrition
This is a natural wearing away of the tooth structure through mastication, gnashing and glitching of the teeth overtime. It removes the mamelons and cusps gradually. This sensitivity mainly occurs on the incisal and occlusal surfaces of the teeth.
Abrasion this is a mechanical wearing away of the tooth structures by the use of abrasive materials overtime, example, hard brush. It occurs basically on the flat surfaces.
Erosion,this is a chemical wearing away of tooth structurs by acidic chemicals (citric acid) eg,unriped fruits.
It comes with dark discolorations on both surfaces.
That is what we call carious lessions, especially on the occlusal surfaces.
It leads to Dental Caries.
Dental Caries is a post eruptive pathological demineralization of tooth structurs by some factors like bacteria (Streptococcus Mutans,Acetic Bacillus),refined carbohydrates,succeptible tooth structures, and time.
Teeth Sensitivity can always arises from Dental procedures like unregulated or unprofessional teeth whitening.
Also from frequent use of ultrasonic scaler machine for cleaning contra-indicated teeth.
